weeknotes 2

highlights

  • Finished my wool 2x2 rib beanie, and started working on my london bonnet!
    • Currently working on a Making entry for this hat. I did write the pattern down, but I have to make some adjustments. It turned out to be sliiiightly too small so I’ll specify how to fix it next time.
    • Update: the basic pattern is done!
  • Started reading Loud by Drew Afualo
  • Met up with a brilliant friend of mine and we attended a fiber arts crafting night at our local lesbian bar. It was a great time.
    • We chatted a lot about organizer burnout and I felt very seen by our talks. We made some plans to conveine in fellowship with some other local organizers and build a better support system. I’m excited for whats to come.
  • Picked up Modern Improv Quilting by Laura Veenema at my local library
  • The election happened. It is, in a word, devastating.
    • I fell off the wagon a little in terms of keeping up with my self care. But it’s getting better. I’m just grieving.
  • Made a winter happiness plan
  • My partner made homemade bahn mi from the dac biet cookbook and it was absolutely fantastic.
    • Now we get to pick the next book for our cookbook club!
  • Made a new set of nails and they’re v cute (may need to make a nail page hehe) star press on nails
  • My partner and I traveled to see the Anderson Japanese Gardens. Although the fall colors were likely at their peak a few weeks ago, we still really got to see some wonderful colors and hang out with the ducks, koi, and trees.
  • I organized my studio a bit more and de-cluttered some of the supplies that didn’t have a home. I ordered more pegboard baskets so that I should be able to get things up but still in view (yay ADHD!)
  • I scheduled a bucket list trip!! My partner and I will be taking the California Zephyr train to San Francisco this winter. I can’t wait to see the snowy views and the landscape of the western US.
    • As much as Amtrak is lacking compared to long trip train services in other countries, I’m still thankful to have access to it.
    • I plan on reading all the books and knitting all the things.

website updates

  • I organized all of my book lists (tbr, read) into JSON files to store here
    • Including migrating my 2023 data from Notion
  • Added the reading log page which I’m very fond of
  • Reorganized some CSS so that it’s more consistent across the code base

media

I didn’t watch as much tv/videos this week, or feel inclined to include any links this week. I think I’m just tired, sad, and in need of some offline reset.
