weeknotes 1

highlights

  • The last craft club event i’m hosting for the year was a hit! I planned a card making activity, and it was so much fun. Lots of great folks came and there were just some great genuine convos and connection. It seems like, unfortunately, a lot of people are relating to my feelings of being burned out with tech and culture of destructive AI/build fast bullshit. But it was nice to knit/craft/make cards all together and just be for an evening.
  • Tried 2 new-to-me restaurants this week: a thai restaurant and a dimsum restaurant. Both were out of this world.
  • Started developing my print server. I haven’t made much progress on this since because I realized I need a micro HDMI cable for my raspberry pi, lol. I have since ordered one and I will really finish it up next week. Don’t worry, I’ll post about it in /making.
  • Made my first press on nail set! It’s so freaking cute and I’m obssessed. my press-on nail set
  • Deco’d my 3ds with tons of rhinestones. Personalize everything or leave this earth with nothing. rhinestone 3ds
  • Cooked for my partner and I’s cookbook club (where it’s just us cooking from cookbooks). I made the miso sweet potato soup from the Lula Cafe Cookbook, and it was such a hit. My roommate called it “fall in a bowl”.
  • Attended a chili cookoff at my coworking space that was divine. I’ll have to enter next year!

media

  1. webfishing - This game is the most wholesome experience I’ve had gaming in a long time. I’ll try not to include many screenshots in case you havent had the joy of experiencing this yet, because you just need to. Highlights from my lobby include a user “crackers” the guitar player who played pink pony club for me when I requested it. There was someone called KK slider who just played animal crossing songs. I caught hugeeee fishes. Just all around an amazing time. these fishes gay. good for them.
  2. Law & Order: SVU - Slowly making my way through this shockingly well written copaganda. I can’t help but love it, because it’s the perfect show to have on in the background.
  3. Over the Garden Wall - My partner and I rewatch it every year on halloween. It’s so fantastic how we find something new about it every year.

“Ain’t that just the way.”

  • choosing liberation over fear by Carolyn Yoo - It reminded me that there are different life paths available, and everyone needs rest, even if it’s a radical change. I needed to hear this. I can relate to a lot of what Carolyn says here and I’m mulling over taking a sabbatical myself.
  • Using personal weeknotes as a tool for attention by Tracy Durnell - I just found Tracy’s blog this week and I just love it. This post really inspired me to start writing weeknotes. I especially love how she explicitly says it should not come from a place of shame - there is no expectation. Notes can be as long or short as I feel like they need to be.
